So what exactly is hazardous waste? Hazardous waste comes in many shapes and forms and includes everything from animal waste to radioactive waste to medical waste. Hazardous waste contains properties making it harmful to humans or to their environment and must thus be disposed of properly by professionals. Hazardous materials are produced by activities ranging from cleaning your home to performing an operation at a hospital. Most hazardous materials that are produced do tend to be consumed during use but others may no longer be required, such as laboratory chemicals; some may have reached the end of their lifespan, such as batteries and used oil; and some may have been found to be a health or environmental concern, such as lead paint or asbestos. These hazardous materials will then become waste and must be disposed of properly and safely.
